Modern Wall to Wall Carpet Trends

Today’s carpet trends offer color and style to create the mood of a room. Color plays a major role in selecting carpet flooring. The two popular trends contrast flooring textures or share similar tones throughout the home.  If you are purchasing new or refreshing a home's carpet, the new designs are styled to add value to the home.

Technology is fueling current trends and creating happier homes with more textured flooring patterns. The new design features are personalizing home settings and matching residential lifestyles. Modern loop and cut configurations give the carpet flooring surface a sculptured effect. The effect has an advantage. It minimizes the appearance of soil and vacuum marks on the carpet.

Carpet Color Trends

Consider the amount of traffic in the room when choosing carpet colors, and textures. Neutral colors are still in high demand, primarily due to its ability to blend in with a room's color. Today’s neutrals include the cooler tones of beige and grey. Neutral or earthy colors do a better job at hiding soil compared to light or darker tones in high traffic areas.

Modern Carpet Trends

Technology has changed the appearance of the carpet flooring.  In some cases, carpet designs are the focal point in the room, no longer hiding in the background. Carpet weaving machines have introduced affordable methods to create colorful patterns. Carpet inventories are stocked with harmonizing designs to fit traditional, modern and contemporary lifestyles.

Best Carpet Fibers

Most carpets are made of fiber blends to strengthen their endurance against household traffic. The blending of different fibers contributes to the carpet's features for resisting stains. Improved dying processes increase its durability to hold the color longer. The combination of these processes helps to retain the carpet's texture.

• Nylon is the most common fiber used for its flexibility to cut and loop piles. It’s also one of the leading stain resistant fibers.
• Polyester fibers work well in medium traffic and come in a variety of stain resistant colors.
• Polypropylene colors added to the fibers during manufacturing give the carpet a vibrant hue. The benefit of this process makes the fiber resistant to fading when exposed to the sun.

At the top of the list is a preference for softness in carpet styles. Manufacturing has introduced a softer, more resilient fiber enhancing the carpet's feel. The individual fibers are thinner, producing a softer and more cushioned surface. This feature hasn't changed the carpet's stain resistant or easy maintenance.
